Rogue Dead Guy Ale

About a year ago I set myself the task of getting to know a beer per week. Two weeks later I realized that wasn't such a good idea and scaled it back to about two beers per month. I currently have 18 types of beer in my little log that I hope represent a broad enough range to get me started learning how to appreciate beer. For now, I'm going to pretend it's time to get ready for May and finally try a Maibock I've heard so much about: Rouge Dead Guy Ale.
Hamantashen!
Submitted by nwellcome on Sun, 02/28/2010 - 18:49Last night marked the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Purim so my girlfriend and I prepared the traditional Purim pastry Hamantashen! Or Hamantashes, Homentaschen or Hamentashes - as with other words that come to English from Hebrew/Yiddish we don't agree about how to spell it. Nor do we seem to know exactly what the symbolism of these triangular treats are but before we get into that you need to know the story behind Purim, the story of Ester. And what better way to tell it than with legos:
Upcoming Pi Day
Submitted by nwellcome on Tue, 02/16/2010 - 01:20Last year my girlfriend and I cooked a chocolate cheesecake pudding pie with a whipped cream π for pie day, March 14th (3/14), which also happens to be Einstein's birthday.

This year we hope, at least, to make a better pie and possibly to make a whole meal for this great transcendental number, including a pizza π - any reason to celebrate.
